Grants

First 5 Calaveras provides funding through grants and sponsorships to community based organizations supporting the needs of children ages birth to five, and their families, including expectant mothers.  All funding priorities are determined by the commission and must be made in relation to the First 5 Calaveras Strategic Plan and its priorities.   

First 5 Calaveras also administers Child Abuse Prevention funds for Calaveras County.  Child Abuse Prevention funding may be available for projects that meet state and Federal guidelines for child abuse prevention strategies supporting children ages birth to eighteen.

Funding amounts, priorities and proposal  timelines are announced by the commission through email and public notices.  Funding is generally awarded to community based organizations and non-profit agencies serving Calaveras children and families.  Grantees must provide a Federal tax ID number, proof of insurance, and assurances that funding does not supplant other state funds.
